Frequently asked questions
Is Molecule AI free?
Yes. The Free tier lets you self-host the open-core monorepo at no cost under the BSL 1.1 license. You get full source access, all 4 official first-party runtimes plus support for conforming custom adapters and external registration, hierarchical memory (LOCAL/TEAM/GLOBAL), the canvas UI with the 10-tab ops panel, MCP tools, and A2A routing. No seat limits on self-host.
What does the Team plan cost?
$29 per workspace per month. Team includes everything in Free plus unlimited workspaces, auto-provisioned isolated tenant compute, real-time topology over WebSocket, encrypted org-scoped secrets, a JSON Lines audit trail, and email & Slack support.
What's covered in the Enterprise plan?
Enterprise pricing is custom. It includes everything in Team plus private cloud or on-prem deployment, custom runtime adapter development, SSO/SAML integration, an SLA with dedicated support, and the option of a source code license. Contact hello@moleculesai.app to scope a quote.
Which agent runtimes does Molecule AI support?
All plans use the Molecule SDK runtime contract: Claude Code, Codex, Hermes, OpenClaw are official first-party choices, custom adapters retain a safe RuntimeId, and external registration is an execution mode rather than an identity.
What does BSL 1.1 allow me to do?
The Business Source License 1.1 lets you self-host Molecule AI freely with no seat limits. You can read the source, modify it, run it for your organization, and embed it in your own product. The license restricts only commercial resale as a competing hosted service.
